He is a familiar and sought-after participant at many renowned festivals within Spain, including Santander, Granada, Perelada and San Sebastián. He has performed in distinguished concert series throughout the world, having made notable appearances in New York's Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall in London, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the Shanghai Conservatory, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Palau, Barcelona, recitals at the Ravinia and Gilmore International Festivals in Chicago, Le festival de La Roque-d'Anthéron in France and the Konzerthaus in Berlin.

Javier has worked with leading conductors including Lorin Maazel, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Jesús López Cobos, Antoni Wit, Daniel Harding and Vassily Petrenko. Highlights of the current season include appearances with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Josep Pons – recorded live as part of a forthcoming recording of the piano music by Manuel de Falla – Tokyo Symphony Orchestra with Hiroshi Kodama, Warsaw Philharmonic conducted by Claus Peter Flor and his debut with the Israel Philharmonic, under Zubin Mehta, which includes a performance at the Lucerne Festival as well as recitals in Tokyo, the Zurich Tonhalle and at the Moscow December Nights Festival.

Perianes has received critical acclaim for his recordings on Harmonia Mundi of Schubert's Impromptus and Klavierstücke and Mompou's Música Callada. His latest disc on this label is devoted to the keyboard sonatas of the eighteenth-century composer Manuel Blasco de Nebra.

Parmi les moments forts de la saison 2010/2011, on peut citer l'enregistrement en concert de son prochain disque consacré à Manuel de Falla avec le BBC Symphony Orchestra sous la direction de Josep Pons, une invitation du Tokyo Symphony Orchestra et Hiroshi Kodama, de l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Varsovie dirigé par Claus Peter Flor et ses débuts avec l'Orchestre Philharmonique d'Israel et Zubin Mehta, dont la tournée à la fin de l'été comprendra un concert au festival de Lucerne. En France, il a été sélectionné pour participer à la 'Play Direct Academy' organisée par l'Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, conclue par un concert – sans chef - avec l'orchestre à la Cité de la Musique, ainsi qu'un concert de musique de chambre.
