Gramophone Award for Andreas Staier

We are delighted to announce that Andreas Staier's recording ...pour passer la mélancolie (HMC902143) has received the 2013 Gramophone award for best Baroque Instrumental recording!

Andreas Staier's latest CD for harmonia mundi '...pour passer la mélancolie' has won Gramophone's Baroque Instrumental Disk Award 2013. In his "extraordinary new album" (Tim Ashley, The Guardian) Andreas combines an historical awareness, his technical expertise and charisma to once again demonstrate why he is regarded as one of the leading Harpsichord and Forte Piano players in the world.

Described by Gramophone as "played with a sure hand and a compelling sense of how to stretch the music's almost verbal rhetoric to the limits of what the musical line can bear...[his] sheer exuberance in rendering this deliciously absurd music is infectious," Andreas is a worthy winner of this award and we wish him many congratulations.

This upcoming season will see Andreas perform across Europe and Asia, giving both solo recitals and presenting chamber works alongside violinst Daniel Sepec and cellist Roel Dieltens, performing Mozart and Schubert trios. In May 2014, Andreas will perform at the Wigmore Hall for BBC Radio 3, offering a programme of J.S Bach, Couperin and Jean-Henry d'Anglebert.
