Alexandre Tharaud shortlisted for 2017 Gramophone Awards

We are delighted that Alexandre Tharaud’s recording of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no.2, alongside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Alexander Vedernikov, has been shortlisted for a Gramophone Award in the Concerto category. The recording features on 'Tharaud plays Rachmaninov': a disc released for Warner Classics, which was selected as Classic FM's album of the week and has received acclaimed reviews from the likes of  the New York Times -  'There are numerous classic recordings of Rachmanioff's popular Second Piano Concerto… the elegant Mr. Tharaud's version, at once probing and impetuous, is exceptional.'  - and BBC Music Magazine -  ‘In Tharaud’s skilled hands melodies soar spontaneously and incidental points of contrapuntal interested arise naturally out of the music’s surging textures.'

The awards ceremony will be streamed live medici.tv on Wednesday, September 13 at 6:30pm (UK time). Click here for more information.
