Christian Mason premieres "Hölderlin's Madness" in Karlsruhe
This Thursday, Christian Mason premieres his work, Hölderlin's Madness, a song cycle for SWR Experimentalstudio. These nine songs (a selection from David Gascoyne’s collection Hölderlin’s Madness) form a character study of the poet Hölderlin, for soprano with an expanded ‘Pierrot’ ensemble with the addition of theremin, E-guitar, and live electronics.
The work will be performed by Explore Ensemble and Lotte Betts-Dean (soprano), with video art by Mirella Weingarten and Wiebke Pöpel at the Giga-Hertz Festival in Karlsruhe
