Diana Soh's "Zylan ne chantera plus" to premiere in Lyon

Diana Soh's "Zylan ne chantera plus" to premiere at Théâtre Le point du jour in Lyon on 6th November 2021

Composer Diana Soh’s new work Zylan ne chantera plus is based on a true story about a young homosexual singer who became a pop star in his country. Arrested then imprisoned, and eventually disappeared.

Inspired by the story, librettist Yann Verburgh wrote the libretto, while Diana Soh penned the music, echoing questions about homophobic hatred and the danger, sometimes deadly actions it poses to victims. The piece is a mix of spoken and sung text, accompanied by electric guitar, cello, and percussion which will be directed by Richard Brunel.
