Rebecca Leggett receives outstanding reviews after her performance at the Festival de Printemps des Arts Florissants

Rebecca leggett is lauded for her beautiful and expressive voice in a concert bringing together soloists from les arts florissants

The 7th edition of the Festival de Printemps des Arts Florissants, which took place at the end of April, was this year dedicated to the English composer, Purcell. In celebration, each concert featured several of his works, alongside other pieces by his contemporaries. For the penultimate evening concert, five soloists, including the festival’s own artistic director, Paul Agnew (tenor), came together to perform a programme of works by Purcell, Blow, Humfrey, and Croft. The latter three composers were contemporaries of Purcell in England in the time, and historical sources have shown that they knew one another and even exerted a considerable musical influence on Purcell.

This beautiful programme featured two tenors, a bass, as well as two female voices, both of which are Lauréates of the Jardin des Voix, Les Arts Florissants’ prestigious young artists academy; Natasha Schnur (soprano) was a lauréate in 2017, and our very own Rebecca Leggett (mezzo-soprano) is a member of the academy this year. In an article published by ResMusica, Rebecca was praised for her debut with the ensemble:

Her fresh and expressive voice immediately seduces, charming and intimate…

…[her voice] becomes airy with crystal pure sharp notes for this beautiful, graceful and emotional musical moment.
