Johanna Malangré begins her 2022/2023 season with the orchestre de picardie

as johanna malangré picks up the baton for her first season with the orchestre de picardie, she shares her passion for musical direction in an interview with Région hauts-de-france

In an article published by Région Hauts-de-France at the end of August 2022, Johanna Malangré explores her love for music and how she came to be so intrigued by the colours and sounds of the orchestra. This season, Malangré draws upon the ‘open and curious’ nature of the Orchestre de Picardie, presenting an eclectic range of works that truly speak to the audience by counterbalancing one another in a tastefully spiced programme.

Last week, the orchestra made their debut concert of the season, performing Bizet’s Carmen Suite No.1 and No.2, as well as Hummel’s Concerto in E major for trumpet and orchestra with Lucienne Renaudin Vary. Their first Concert for Young and Old also took place at the start of the school year with the pupils of Amiens Métropole attending an hour-long intervention where they had the chance to both listen to and learn about the orchestra and its musicians.

With a regular series of outreach concerts, the Orchestre de Picardie makes a huge difference to the communities not just in the city of Amiens, but also across the entire region of Hauts-de-France. On September 14th, Malangré presents and conducts Haydn’s Symphony No.73, The Hunt, for the next of these accessible concerts.

For the first programme of the season, Malangré conducts the Haydn symphony, as well as Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, Mozart’s Concerto for bassoon, and Ligeti’s Branches, in a series of four concerts, titled ‘The Forest’.
