Praised for his ‘sonorous timbre’ and ‘remarkable diction’ (Olyrix), British tenor Nicholas Scott enjoys a busy career with extensive experience in the field of early music.

Season’s highlights include two European tours singing Eumete in Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria with ensemble I Gemelli, Handel Messiah with Les Arts Florissants, a concert series with both Le Banquet Céleste and Les Ambassadeurs, his solo debuts with Early Music Vancouver and as Renaud in Lully’s Armide at the Drottningholm Theatre in Sweden.  Nicholas will sing the role of Paulino in Handel’s Titus l’Empereur as part of the 2024 Handel Festival in Hallé with UK based Opera Settecento Company, and will make his debut with Orchestre de Paris under the baton of Klaus Mäkelä (B minor mass) in April 2025.

Past notable engagements include his performance of Le Sommeil in Lully Atys at Grand Théâtre de Genève under the baton of Leonardo García Alarcon, L’Allegro,, il Penseroso e il Moderato at Festival de Beaune with William Christie, his debut with Dunedin Consort at Wigmore Hall (Acis and Galatea), as well as his debut to Zurich Opera to perform the role of Parque in Rameau Hippolyte et Aricie. Nicholas has appeared at the Mozartfest Würzburg for his debut with Les Talents Lyriques as Arbace in Mozart Idomeneo, Don Carlos in a concert version of Les Indes Galantes with Filarmonica Toscanini, in a series of concerts and a recording of Rigel’s works with Arion Baroque in Canada,  with Les Arts Florissants for a number of performances in such venues as the Barbican Centre, Philharmonie de Paris, Carnegie Hall and Festival de Lanaudière and with Cappella Mediterranea, singing Monteverdi L’Orfeo and La Jerusalem Délivrée by Philippe d’Orléans (a world premiere) with the latter. He also made his debut at the Berlin Philharmonie with Le Poème Harmonique, as well as Festival d’Aix-en-Provence after performing the same programme at Teatro Colon (Buenos Aires), Opéra National du Rhin (Strasbourg) and Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) with Cappella Mediterranea.

During his solo interventions, Nicholas Scott exposes a brilliant, homogeneous and powerful voice with ease. Serving above all the expressiveness of his singing. His language work is attentive and patent, the text always clear and with a pronunciation of 18th century English.

Nicholas Scott en Thespis puis Mercure. Vraie voix de haute-contre, à l’aigu homogène et sonore, au français presque irréprochable, il campe un dieu virevoltant et fantasque avec ce qu’il faut de comique sans pour autant sacrifier à la beauté du chant. En termes de rires du public, il remporte la mise haut la main.
